- In 2000, The Austin Lyric founded the Armstrong Community Music School. It is the first such community music school ever to be founded by an opera company. They offer programs and lessons to students of all ages in classical, jazz, as well as blues, folk and a variety of musical styles. They also produce opera outreach to community schools, high-risk youth in housing projects, detention facilities and community centers.
